Rules

GENERAL RULES AND CONDITIONS RELATING TO ALL COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS AND COMPETITIONS

1. All Championships and Competitions shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the Royal Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, and such local rules as shall be approved by the Organising Committee.

2. All competitors must be of Amateur Status as defined by the R&A of St. Andrews and be a member of the County Association.

3. Entries with entry fees must be sent to the Competitions Secretary by the closing date. Competitions that require a draw will be made by the Competitions Secretary and a member of the Executive Committee. The draw/time sheet will be forwarded to the relevant clubs, after which refunds will not normally be made except in certain circumstances, at the discretion of the Organising Committee.

4. The Competitions Secretary must be notified of withdrawals, when preference will be given to players on the waiting list. Should a competition be over subscribed, at the discretion of the Competitions Secretary a ballot may be held or a handicap limit introduced.

5. C.O.N.G.U. Handicap Certificates must be produced before start of play, failure to do so may render a player ineligible to take a prize. Score cards will be issued by the Competitions Organiser or her representative.

6. If in any Championship or Competition it becomes impossible to complete the Championship/Competition in accordance with the conditions thereon because of adverse weather or other circumstances, which in the opinion of the Organising Committee make it impossible or impracticable to do so, the Committee shall be empowered to vary such conditions to the extent necessary to achieve a result within the time available.

7. All competitors will be required to play with golf balls which are on the R. & A. Golf Club of St. Andrews list of conforming golf balls current at the date of the Championship/Competition.

8. The arrangements on the day of the Championship/Competition will be supervised by the Organising Committee. Any disputes or points shall be settled by the Committee on the day of the Championship/Competitions whose decision shall be final.

9. Competitors shall not engage a Professional or Assistant Professional as a caddy. Breach of this rule will be disqualification.

10. Handicap limits appropriate to each Championship/Competition.

11. Players shall walk at all times unless a medical condition prevents her from doing so. However, the County Committee must be advised when entering the competition that a buggy is necessary. An appropriate medical certificate must be available on request. EXCEPTIONS: County Championship, Intermediate Championship, Bronze Championship, Junior Under 18 Championship and Junior Under 21 Championship, when competitors MUST walk.

12. Competitors are not allowed to use Laser and GPS system measuring devices for any county competitions. Breach of this rule disqualification.

13. Competitors and members are expected to conduct themselves in a proper and sporting manner.

14. Competitors are reminded that they should play without delay as slow play may be penalised (see Rule 6-7).

15. The Association nor the host club can accept responsibility for theft or accidents. Competitors are advised to arrange their own insurance cover against insurable risks.
